Baldr Odinson is a whiny little bee-yatch

I'm a little late to the party with this, but I want to spread the word as much as possible about what a tool Baldr Odinson is. 

On Feb 3 he posted this pseudo-legalese threat at Gun Free Zone:

This is consistent with one aspect of my General Theory of Gun Grabbing: these people have nothing going on in their own lives, and must interfere with other adults.  This guy appears in a sweet white costume, makes a public speech in front of a crowd of at least a half-dozen other gun grabbers, then makes a legal threat against a pro-gun blogger's free publicity. 

Instead of making a phony legal threat on the internet that he'll never follow through with, couldn't his energy have been better spent fundraising, lobbying, or publicizing his argument for the criminalization of gun ownership? 

Baldr Odinson, and his organization Ceasefire Oregon, has nothing going on and I'm happy to hear that. 

Supporting more gun laws is the patriarch thing to do

Here is the ad featuring my city's mayor, Tom Menino, and his pal Michael Bloomberg.  It's in the classic Fudd form of "We're supporters of the second amendment, but..."

In their case, the "but" is to make it as expensive and difficult to lawfully own firearms, as well as to add on to the hopelessly complicated state and local laws that put good people through the legal meat grinder.

Specifically, they want to criminalize private sales of firearms between adults, an act that has come to be known somehow as a loophole.  However in Massachusetts, it is already illegal for an individual to sell a firearm to another individual who does not have the proper license.  This is true whether the parties meet up in a parking lot or at a gun show.  It is therefore unclear what new laws Menino seeks, and I doubt he would be able to articulate this.

And Mayor Menino, would you please tell me why more complicated gun laws is "the patriarch thing to do?"


ETA: The ad did not air in the Boston market.  The whole thing was a publicity ploy.   Lame.

My prediction for the Bogota experimental gun ban

I don't know anything about the people, culture, or government of Bogota, but I'll throw this prediction out there.

 Upon ending on April 30, the experimental gun ban enacted by the mayor will be declared an unprecedented success, necessitating further restrictions, registration, and confiscation of privately owned firearms.  The wealthiest and most politically connected, and the police and private security personnel will be exempted.

This will happen whether the "gun murder" rate stays the same, or whether it increases or decreases by any amount during the course of the experiment.
